Human-Centered Design

Empathy and understanding users are at the core of the design approach. Every project begins with research and insight, ensuring that solutions are grounded in real user needs while maintaining strong visual storytelling.

My Story

I started out in graphic design, mostly because it was the one class in school where I lost track of time. That led to a B.A. in Graphic Design from UMBC, then a job doing brand and marketing work for a healthcare company. It wasn't glamorous, but it taught me something I still lean on: design has to actually serve the business, not just look nice in a deck.

From there I found my way into product design. I led the web and UX side of a company's move to e-commerce right in the middle of the pandemic, which was equal parts chaotic and a crash course in figuring things out fast. Later I went back and did it properly, General Assembly's UX Design Immersive and the Google UX Design Certificate, to put real structure behind instincts I'd been working off of for years. These days I run my own design practice alongside client work, handling everything from the first messy brief to the final files.

Through all of it, I've never stopped painting. It started with pencil sketches taped up on my wall as a kid, and it's turned into oil and acrylic landscapes and portraits I still make time for, usually late at night when the house is quiet. Design asks me to solve someone else's problem inside a set of constraints. Painting is the one place I get to just make something because I want to. Lately I've started hosting small social art events too, casual sessions where people show up, paint badly on purpose, and just enjoy making something with their hands for a couple hours.

Artistic Vision

I love every form art takes

Painting, illustration, digital art, doodling on the back of a receipt if that's all I've got on me. I don't really pick and choose. If it lets me make something, I'm probably into it. That habit isn't separate from my design work either, it's honestly where most of my better ideas come from.

I've never been able to think of design as just problem-solving. It's storytelling too. The best interfaces do the same thing the best paintings do: they make you feel like you understand something a little better than you did five minutes ago.

Perspective

Born in Saudi Arabia. Raised in Bangladesh. Grown in the United States.

Moving around that much as a kid meant I was always the new person figuring out unfamiliar rooms. I think that's part of why I care so much about whether a product feels welcoming to someone who's never used it before. I grew up speaking English, Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu, sometimes all in one conversation, and that habit of translating between worlds shows up in how I design and how I paint.

Growing up across different parts of the world meant inspiration was never in short supply. I was surrounded by different textures, colors, languages, and ways of seeing things, and it planted a real passion for creativity in me early on, one I've chased through a lot of different mediums ever since. I think that's also why my work tends to reach a wider range of people than you might expect from one designer or one artist. I've never wanted to just pick a lane. If something inspires me, I want to try my hand at it, which is probably why I keep dipping my fingers into every form of creativity I can find instead of staying in one place.

Whatever I end up making, whether it's a painting, a product, or something in between, it usually ends up reflecting where I come from and whatever's caught my attention that day. It's a pretty direct reflection of who I am: someone with a lot of different sides, shaped by a lot of different places, who cares about the same things no matter which medium I'm working in. I just want the people on the other side of the screen, or the canvas, to feel like there was room made for them.
